5 Nights South Vietnam
“South Vietnam” typically refers to the southern region of Vietnam before the country’s reunification in 1975. Here’s an overview of South Vietnam:
- History: South Vietnam was established in 1954 following the division of Vietnam into North and South at the 17th parallel after the Geneva Accords. It was a separate political entity from North Vietnam, with its capital initially in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City). South Vietnam was supported by the United States and other Western nations during the Vietnam War, which lasted from the mid-1950s until 1975.
- Society and Culture: South Vietnam was home to a diverse population comprising various ethnic groups, including the majority Vietnamese, as well as Chinese, Khmer, and others. The region had a rich cultural heritage, with influences from indigenous traditions, Chinese culture, and Westernization. Urban centers like Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) were bustling hubs of commerce, culture, and entertainment.
